[VIDEO] SHOCKING: New U2 Clip Portrays Trump And Supporters As KKK Members
The Irish band U2 released a music video for their new song “Get Out of Your Own Way” that portrays Trump, and his supporters as KKK members. The music video was developed by the Broken Fingaz Crew, an Israeli graffiti collective.
The video shows imagery of of pain and misery, a woman crying, a skull engulfed in flames and it also contains references to America’s political history that I’m sure U2 knowns little about.
In the video, KKK members march across the screen with torches in hand, while the president watches from the oval office.
“Fight back,” Bono instructs. “Don’t take it lyin’ down, you got to bite back.”
Broken Fingaz Crew created the clip as a response to what they perceived as racism from Trump in 2017. “2017 for us was the year fascists worldwide felt confident enough to raise their heads again, encouraged by Trump and other world leaders who use people’s fear to build more walls and segregation,” they explained in a statement. “The song is both a personal letter and a clarion cry to the global situation, and in the same way, we’ve combined our psychedelic pop style with political imagery.”
“Get Out of Your Own Way” appeared on Songs of Experience, U2’s 14th studio LP, which came out last December. The album earned the top spot on the billboard top 200 charts.
What business does U2 have sharing such strong, negative opinions about the American president? To me, what it looks like happened, is an older band came to a younger, more socially connected artist and said, “here’s our crappy stadium rock song, make a socially relevant music video for it that Trump is portrayed negatively in, that will sell.”
This type of stuff does nothing but throw fuel on an already raging fire, it solves nothing, it leads to no forward conversation.
