They Got Married In 1940, 70 Years Later Their Dark Secret Is Revealed
It’s not every day you hear a story about lifelong love, but that is the case for Jeanette and Alexander Toczko.
“They were boyfriend and girlfriend when they were 8 years old,” their son Richard reported.
Alexander was a World War II veteran, who fell in love with and married Jeanette in 1940. The couple lived happily in San Diego, until Alexander broke his hip and his health began declining.
Shortly thereafter, Jeanette fell ill as well. As the family prepared to say goodbye, Jeanette told them of her wishes to die hand in hand with her husband.
“She kept asking us, ‘What is today, what is today?’” their daughter Aimee told reporters. “We said it was June. She said it’s June 29th, and June 29th is their 75th wedding anniversary.”
The family came over to celebrate, and when they left, the couples spent some time alone. That night, Alexander died in his wife’s arms.
“See this is what you wanted,” Jeanette told him. “You died in my arms and I love you. I love you, wait for me, I’ll be there soon.”
Not more than 24 hours passed before Jeanette came true to that promise.
This is an amazing story. Share it with your friends!
