BREAKING: Suicide Bombers Attack Christians Praying At Church
Christmas is the biggest Christian holiday that is celebrated through the world. Sadly, this year some will skip the celebrations because of the Islamic extremists. The terrorists used the opportunity of a massive Christian gathering and decided to destroy their holiday.
Not caring about the sanctity of people praying in church, they organized a terror attack there. Suicide bombers blew themselves in a church and killed dozens of people.
From NY Post:
“Two suicide bombers attacked a church in the Pakistani city of Quetta on Sunday, killing eight people and wounding 42 others, officials said.Sarfaraz Bugti, home minister for the southwestern Baluchistan province, said hundreds of worshippers were attending services at the church ahead of Christmas. He said the attackers clashed with security forces, with one assailant killed at the entrance while the other made it inside.”
Normally, about 250 people attend a service, but because it was close to Christmas, there were around 400.
Usually, around 250 people attend a service, but because of the holiday, that number was increased to 400. The terrorists were carrying 33 pounds of explosive each. They also had grenades and guns according to civil defense official Aslam Tareen.
The bombing occurred right in the middle of the service.
Hospital officials reported that among the dead there were two women, and among the wounded there were two children and five women.
A young girl described what she saw to Geo television. It was horrible.
Aqil Anjum, who was shot in his arm, told The Associated Press he heard a burst in the middle of the service, followed by heavy gunfire. “It was chaos. Bullets were hitting people inside the closed hall.”
If it hadn’t been for the security , more people would have been killed.
Baluchistan police chief Moazzam Ansari praised the security forces of the church, saying the attacker who was inside was wounded and unable to reach the main building. “Otherwise the loss of lives could have been much higher,” he told reporters.
According to the police, there were four attackers, but they’re still looking for two of them who got away
Although Christians are minority in Pakistan, this isn’t the first time for Islamic extremists to attack Christians or churches before in Quetta. They are only about 1.6% of the 200 million population but the Islamic terrorist are trying to cut that down to 0%.
After the attack, other Christians protested in front of the hospital, saying that there wasn’t enough security in the church.
From Yahoo:
“Following the latest attack, dozens of Christians protested in the northwestern city of Peshawar and called on officials to protect religious minorities. In 2013 82 people were killed when suicide bombers targeted a church in the city. And last year Lahore suffered one of Pakistan’s deadliest attacks during the Easter season — a suicide bomb in a park that killed more than 70 people including many children.”
Police have been struggling with Islamic extremists in the region of Balochistan for more than a decade.
After the attack took place, ISIS claimed responsibility for it in a statement on its Amaq news agency.
We’re sending our thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families.
