SNOWFLAKE: GOP Sen. Flake to Quit Congress, Blames 'Reckless' Trump

Arizona GOP Senator Jeff Flake announced Tuesday he will not be seeking re-election; blaming President Trump and his supporters as “reckless” and “undignified,” and accusing the Republican Party of “giving up on their core principles.”
Flake trashed the President and his backers without naming names, alluding to those who “given in or given up on the core principles in favor of a more viscerally satisfying anger and resentment ... but anger and resentment are not a governing philosophy."
The GOP Senator is a frequent critic of the President, blasting Trump in August over his immigration policy and travel ban. Trump fired-back at Flake, saying he was “weak on borders, crime and a non-factor in the Senate.”
The Republican lawmaker was elected to the US Senate in 2012 after serving over a decade in the House of Representatives. While speaking with his colleagues, Flake took the opportunity to attack Trump and fellow Republicans.
"The notion that one should stay silent as the norms and values that keep America strong are undermined," Flake told his colleagues. "And as the alliances and agreements that ensure the stability of the entire would are routinely threatened by the level of thought that goes into 140 characters […] is a historic and, I believe, profoundly misguided."
